Authentic Moments with Novo.Seven

Frankfurt-based photographer Novo.Seven approaches photography as a way of connecting with people and everyday life. In this interview, he shares how a difficult moment led him to pick up a camera, why authenticity matters more than gear, and how film, natural light and simple environments help him create portraits that feel like fragments of real life.
Could you start by telling us a little about yourself?
Hello everyone. I’m a 41-year-old photographer from Frankfurt, Germany. Besides photography, I’m interested in electronic and rock music, playing guitar, books, movies, going to the gym, and lately I really enjoy being outside in nature (which is a definite sign that I’m getting old).
Do you remember the moment when photography first caught your attention? How did that initial interest begin?
I remember that time pretty well. It was in Spring 2007. I had a difficult time because I broke up with my girlfriend back then. I wanted to enjoy my new life and visited a friend in Vienna. Her boyfriend was a photographer who was doing mainly street photography. He carried his camera literally ALL the time with him. He saw things happening around me that I didn’t even notice. He could see beauty when I just passed by. That was the moment when I thought: Ok, I wanna do this! Not only taking nice photographs, but also the whole concept of living a mindful life.
