By inheritance
About 15 years ago, my grandfather gave me a Werlisa Color, which was a camera he had won in a contest. The Werlisa is a simple camera, with a direct viewfinder and zone focusing, made in Catalonia. It was my first camera.
My name is Cesc Llinares. I’m a photographer by inheritance and a graphic designer by training. I currently work as art director in Barcelona, combining these two disciplines.
My interest in the world of imagery began at home, influenced by my grandfather, Ramon Llinares, and his memories from the epoque when he was an active photographer. I knew him when he was already retired from street photography and competitions, but photography remained very present in his life. When I was a child, he often told me stories about moments he had captured during the Spanish Transition: demonstrations, popular cultural events in Catalonia, and everyday moments that he found interesting. This personal experience was crucial in my beginnings in photography and shaped my interest in the visual world.
My photography is characterised by a documentary nature. I’m interested in capturing everyday life, revealing the beauty and the mystery hidden in the simplest details. I believe there is great value in documenting the daily life because it’s often the seemingly insignificant moments that best tell a story.
