In Between Journeys and Frames

My relationship with photography started long before I picked up a camera myself. My dad was passionate about film photography, and thanks to him, my brother and I have beautiful black-and-white portraits from our childhood. Unfortunately, he sold all his gear long before I got into photography — something I still regret, because it would have felt special to use his Zenit camera with its variety of lenses one day. In a way, part of my attachment to film photography comes from that nostalgia, from wanting to reconnect with something he once loved.
I started taking film photos around three years ago. At first, I shared them on my personal Instagram account, but I quickly noticed that my friends didn’t seem particularly interested — an iPhone picture of me would get more likes than a film shot I was proud of. So, I decided to create a separate account dedicated solely to my film photography, and it was the best decision I could have made.
That space — @35mmomento — became a small community where I could connect with like-minded people from around the world, exchange ideas, and even meet fellow photographers during my travels. I love how film photography attracts people who appreciate slowing down, observing, and finding beauty in imperfection.
