My WANDRD PRVKE 31 litre has been a workhorse ever since I got it back in 2021. It has seen wedding isles, countless airports and train stations, beaches, mountains, cities, countryside and everything in between. It has gone through the heat, the cold, water, snow, rain or shine; it never disappointed in delivering comfort while protecting my gear from the elements.
I wouldn’t exaggerate when I say that on a number of occasions, and with the backpack fully packed, I had to actually double-check everything I need is inside, as when I pop it on my back, the weight distribution is so good that my mind is fooled into thinking I forgot something!
I use the backpack with the mid camera cube when on assignment, and then without it when travelling, as I always travel light enough for the backpack to accommodate both the camera gear, a small laptop, as well as my clothes and everything else. My WANDRD 31 litre has features I now cannot live without while travelling, and here they are:
- Modularity—either ditch or leave the camera cube inside the backpack, and then use the tough velcro elements to create the compartments that work for you.
- Expandable roll top—I love this feature as I can make the backpack look small – especially at airports – and then enlarge it when I need a jacket or any other extras.
- Table-like opening system—this allows for quick swinging of the backpack from your back and opening it right in front of you with the shoulder straps still on you. Brilliant!
- Large camera access side pocket—this one’s obvious, but in comparison to other bags I’ve tried, the one here makes it really effortless to get the camera in and out of the backpack. Nough said.

The PRVKE V3 improves on earlier versions with thicker shoulder straps, a reworked back panel, and load distribution that feels balanced even when you’ve stuffed it with bodies, lenses, flashes, batteries, and hydration. The bag hugs the body more like a technical hiking pack than a camera box on straps. While competitors such as the Lowepro ProTactic focus on battlefield-ready rigidity and accessory mounts, the PRVKE finds a sweet spot between support and all-day comfort, making it kinder on your back during marathon receptions.
Weather resistance is another unsung hero. Outdoor ceremonies, humid prep rooms, and sudden showers are all part of the wedding landscape. The V3’s water-resistant tarpaulin/nylon blend, coated zippers, and roll-top expansion give an extra buffer of protection. A quick personal note: WANDRD released an improved version 4 of both their EDC and photography backpacks this autumn, which add even more improved shoulder strap padding, extra top access to the main top compartment via a large zipper, and more. However, I still prefer my version 3 backpack as the straps are connected to the collapsible back/laptop compartment rather than the top, which means (in version 4) you need to move the straps to the side to gain the usual undisturbed access to the main compartment. For me, this hinders the user experience a bit for a photography backpack. However, with all the other improvements on the table, I think WANDRD have struck gold for anyone who’s looking for a lifelong, solid, no-fuss and buy-once-and-forget-it backpack—a truly superb product!
