Turning the Ordinary Into Extraordinary

My name is Mathieu DALLE, a French photographer based in the Loire Valley region, famous for its castles. Passionate about the world of images since I was young, I started photography during high school. I took a break but resumed during the Covid period when I decided to fully embrace my passion. Always eager to discover the world, this passion is a great excuse for me to travel in search of images.
I shoot film primarily for its unique rendering. I really love the tactile, paper-like quality it offers through photographic film. I mostly work with my trusty Pentax P30 and lenses ranging from 50mm to 100mm very often, and occasionally, wide-angle lenses as well. I love capturing details, those small unnoticed things in everyday life.
Like the great Saul Leiter, whose photography I deeply admire, I’m drawn to subtle and quiet moments. I also draw inspiration from contemporary photographers such as Francesco Gioia, especially his book 57, which is a true masterclass. For a more feminine approach, I greatly appreciate the work of Pia Riverola and Sarah Van Rij.
My camera holds sentimental value as it was a gift from my ex-girlfriend, and it originally belonged to members of her family. Beyond our personal relationship, I really appreciate the sense of transmission and heritage of passion for photography that comes with this camera.
